Maybe tags for topics (and other content) would be nice to have similar to what some other forum software has. It could make things better organized and easier to search for. I know there are topic labels but its not really the same thing, and kinda limited.

Topic tags are already available, but we call them topic labels. 😁

True and they work in a similar fashion, but are a bit limited, unless i'm missing something, you cant search for them and you can only have one per topic.

Yeah, they're limited one per topic. Feel free to explain what you're missing though.

Was just unsure if maybe i was just missing a setting or something, regarding topic labels, that allowed more than one per topic and being searchable. Tags are a bit more versatile but topic labels work well enough i guess.

Well if there's anything missing, don't hesitate to explain. 🙂

From my understanding topic labels are more for helping with organization and helping members see what category a topic is.

Tags are more like keywords for SEO. For example: you create a topic on Yellowstone National Park, you then add tags Yellowstone, National Parks, beauty, nature and in the search it will pull up any topics with those tags. If I search for nature, it pulls the Yellowstone topic and any others tagged with nature. Also kinda like hashtags on social media.

Ah I see, that makes sense. I’ve never seen a good user experience nor people bothering much with tags, hence why I didn’t bother much as well. But if there’s a strong desire for it, I wouldn’t mind adding it optionally.

I had some time today and made sure multiple labels per topic is now available in the upcoming 2.0 version. 🙂

While I didn't set any limit, know that the more you add, the less good it'll look. You can safely add 3-4 labels, but anything above that is going to look awkward.

Nice, good work, really glad to see that being added.

Maybe down the line you could have primary topic labels and secondary topic labels with the secondary labels listed below the topic name, which would make it neater with more topc labels, so you keep the number of labels unlimited.

Perhaps. I think that may overcomplicate things. There is no easy way to determine primary and secondary unless the admin defined those. I think in this case an additional topic tags would be better instead of labels. Which is a bit what you suggested in the beginning.

I’ll see what I can do. Nothing promising this immediately as ideally I’d like to see some more interest in this first.

Yeah, good point. i agree topic tags would be better i think, and probably less complicated. Thanks for all your hard work.

I see topic tags used a LOT on roleplaying sites so I'm sure this feature will be appreciate by someone somewhere. The one I'm the most familiar with uses thread labels to categorize by major genre (Fantasy, SciFi, etc) and also has SEO-style tags under the topic name where people put (or choose from a pre-made list) tags like "romance", "D&D 5e", "isekai", "murder mystery", etc.
