This is a Q&A forum, which adds the voting on the left. It looks better on a non-Q&A forum, but I agree that the Q&A layout needs some more work. I'll add it to the list for the next release since this won't be a quick fix to roll out.

Alright. The fix wasn't really so time consuming as I'd thought. Tablets have now been fully optimized in topic view.
If anyone else sees anything off, feel free to report!
