Arcade System

I know this is a huge and potentially difficult thing to add but i’ve got to ask, back in the day, we used to have an Arcade on our forums, i know there are still Arcade systems for other popular forum software today, So, i’m wondering, is it possible that Forum Spark could one day have an Arcade system or if not a full blown Arcade system, just some games?

An arcade system would be interesting. Flash games are probably out of the question these days, but HTML5 games could be kind of interesting.

Actually, I seen some places use something called ruffle for flash games. So you could have html 5 games and flash games.

It’s not that difficult actually. I’ve made an arcade recently for a different framework. I could definitely port it over as an extension and make it available.

That would be awesome.

Will it support the old flash games with something like Ruffle, as well as HTML 5 games? That would further increase the options for games, plus there were many classic games that were never ported to html 5 over the years.

Yeah. There’s two things worth noting here. We’re able to store flash games on our server that enables us to create leaderboards per community. Which means you can challenge fellow members per game and keep track of scores. There would be ~50 games available.

There are websites where you can embed flash games onto your arcade. They don’t contain any score and there’s often an advertisement involved before playing. This allows for ~3500 games to be embedded. But there is no possibility to rank in the leaderboard.

So, I’m looking into it and I’m happy to hear any suggestions/feedback.

Yeah, Sounds good. I do know that most of the older flash games would submit a score that IBProArcade (i think it was called) and other Arcade systems of the time could record, I’m not sure of the process of how that worked exactly though. As for Ruffle, i think all it is, is a emulator for flash, so the old flash games will work without actually needing flash. From the looks of it, Ruffle can be added on the server side and not have to be something individual users have to get.

The arcade is coming. 🙂 There is still lots to do, but I expect it to be released sometime begin next week.
