I'm happy to share another solid update with you all. Version 1.5.0 focuses on giving board owners more control over how their community looks, along with a number of important fixes behind the scenes.
Font Awesome Icon Markers
Forums can now use Font Awesome icons as their markers. You can see this live on our support forum.
Instead of being limited to the default dot or uploading a custom image, you can now pick from nearly 2,000 icons directly in the AdminCP. There's a searchable grid that makes it easy to find the right one, and each forum can have a different icon for its read and unread state.
The icons are styled as compact colored badges. They scale well, support dark mode, and keep things visually consistent across your board. Which you of course can still adjust to your preference using custom CSS.
Forum & Category Colors
This is probably the most visible change in 1.5.0.
You can now assign custom colors to categories and individual forums. These colors cascade through the interface, panel titles, forum links, badges, and topic views all pick up the color automatically. If a forum doesn't have its own color, it inherits from its parent category.
This makes it much easier to visually distinguish different sections of your board at a glance.
Colors can be set per category or per forum in the AdminCP. If you don't set anything, everything stays exactly as it was.
NEW Badges
Unread forums and topics now display a small "New" badge on desktop and within the topic list. It's a subtle but useful indicator that helps members quickly spot where new activity is, without needing to scan every row.
Bug Fixes
A number of production issues have been resolved in this release.
The credit extension was not registering events properly when first enabled, meaning credits weren't being awarded. This has been fixed.
The ACP stylesheet editor was not saving CSS changes correctly, and theme editor color changes were only applying to the current user instead of the entire board. Both have been addressed.
We've also fixed an issue with the two-factor authentication page crashing for some users, hardened the board creation flow against malformed requests, and improved how the domain verification job handles DNS propagation delays.
Finally, the online users query on the board index has been optimized to prevent memory issues on larger communities.
Minor Improvements
The CSS cascade specificity has been improved across several components, making theme customization more predictable and reducing cases where styles didn't apply as expected.
As always, if you run into anything unusual, please report it in the support forum. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.
