What's your biggest forum-related regret?

We’ve all made a few missteps - I know I have! Bad modifications, rushed launches, awkward rebrands, or even full-on resets. Looking back, is there anything you would’ve done differently?

Thinking I could build a full on forum, solo with as many features as possible crammed into it. That was a slog. The code is still somewhere around.

I once had a forum that was generating around $100 per month through ads. I sold it. Selling is my biggest regret. That was the biggest forum I have ever owned.

Probably when I split my resource board into two: one for resources and one for discussions. The discussion board was closed down, and everything was moved back to the resource forum, but I have over 500 topics in the trash can from the previous discussion forums.

My brother, the regret most forum onever admit publicly is abandoning their early community. People underestimate how fragile online communities are. Miss a few months of activity and suddenly your loyal members vanish quietly. I once helped moderate a small discussion board and we thought it would run itself. Life became busy, data prices increased, and before we knew it the place turned into a ghost town.

My biggest forum regret was agreeing with my partner then to sell our thriving community Posting Bay. The sale was the end of the community because the new owner just abandoned the project.

Well, not being active on many forums will always be my regret. I always wanted to be active on more and more forums. I wanted to post on more and more forums. Maybe I should be active more and more.
