The maximum file size is 200kb and max dimensions are 400x400. Make sure this is below these requirements. I have just uploaded one and uploaded perfectly.
What are the dimensions of the image? Also the avatar might be too large in terms of file size. I recommend saving your image as a jpg since it's much smaller than a png if you haven't done so yet. I just changed my avatar the other day with no issues.
I finally managed to upload an avatar. I was trying to resize stock image through Microsoft Picture Manager, and it didn't upload. I then used AI to create this avatar.
