How can we better support new members on our forums?

This morning I was browsing one forum and i noticed something. New members was just coming in but nobody is really guiding them on how to use the forum. It made me remember when I first joined one community, I was so confused. Nobody to guide me , no direction, they don't even welcome me. I had to figure out things myself.

I saw that we can now do Welcome PMs, so maybe you can create a quick guide for your forum?

This is why I love it when forum owners have automatic DM sent to welcome them and also for unboarding of new members. This will teach new members how to go about navigating the forum.
