Redirect topics to multiple forums

Im not sure if this is possible, But Id like to suggest the ability to redirect topics to multiple sections at once.

I'll give an example, lets say i run a forum about soft drinks, and i have sections for Coca Cola, Pepsi and Dr Pepper. But where would i post a topic about your favorite soft drink? It would apply to multiple sections and it doesnt make sense to post the same topic multiple times, so the best thing would be to be able to post it once in the Coca Cola section for example and then have the topic in the Pepsi and Dr. Pepper sections redirect to the original topic. Hope that makes sense.

Also is there anyway to move Topics to another section?

You can go to the topic list page, click the little checkbox on the right, then go to your moderation tools on the bottom left to move topics.

Not possible currently or not possible to be added at all? Because, Id like to suggest this be added, because it would be useful.

It's currently not possible, and to be honest, I don't really see this being added either.

You’re basically suggesting a way for one topic to appear in multiple sections at once, while still keeping only one actual discussion thread. I understand the idea, especially for topics that could fit into more than one category, but this is a pretty unusual practice for forums and would most likely cause some confusion among members.

For example, people may not immediately understand why a topic appears in several sections, which section it truly belongs to, or why replying from different areas all leads back to the same discussion.

In cases like this, I think the cleaner approach would be to place the topic in the most relevant section, or use labels to make it easier to find across related subjects.

Fair point, and maybe a workaround may be to when you move a topic have an option to leave a redirect to the original topic, that way you could have basically the same fuctionality im talking about with less potential confusion, because i'd argue, moving a topic can be confusing too when someone is looking for that topic and its no longer where it was originally.

And lets remember its optional anyway, some forums might not find it useful, if members of some forums get confused by something, it can just not be used in that case. Anyway.

Another way which might be easier. You could allow multiple Topic Labels per topic, maybe up to 5 per topic. That would help sorting and might be an alternative to the redirect topics.

That could definitely be implemented.
